Synopsis

This chapter presents a clear and thought-provoking summary of the main findings and outputs obtained during this phase of the project, highlighting the effort to understand and document the cultural wealth linked to pre-Hispanic roots, current indigenous peoples, and historical colonization processes. Throughout the fieldwork and interdisciplinary analysis, the research team consolidated advances that not only fulfill the commitments established in the application, but also broaden the horizon of understanding of the symbolic expressions and narrative universes of these communities. First, a detailed list of words associated with objects, plants, animals, foods, celestial bodies, and other realities that make up the indigenous and pre-Hispanic imagination was compiled.  At the same time, a specialized methodology was designed for the collection and analysis of indigenous mythology, aimed at respecting the forms of oral transmission and safeguarding the integrity of the stories that sustain collective memory.  Finally, the chapter integrates the set of interviews, observations, surveys, and photographic records that enrich the interpretation of the data and provide a sensitive and situated view of community life.
