Behind the shutter
¡A song to Women!
Keywords:
poetic prose, contemporary Colombian poetry, the portrayal of women in literature, symbolism in literatureSynopsis
Behind the shutter, the work of an inexhaustible poet—boiling with creative energy and driven by a liberating, or perhaps messianic, zeal—reveals to us women of every kind and condition, depicted in all their facets. Women, in any case, freed from the patriarchal yoke. For this reason, Stapper’s work, with its extensive catalog of human women, should become—after nearly four and a half centuries of the influence of the perfect, married woman—an educational manual and a bedside book; a new literary “Bible” of Woman, that of a poet who suffers from her unjust situation and dreams of the arrival of her spring. I am certain—and not only because of its inherent numerical strength—that repeated reading of this book—by both young adolescents and adults—will educate us in other values of womanhood, in a society free of patriarchal prejudices and with a keen awareness of matriarchal potential.
