Synopsis

Informal settlements are a constant in most developing countries, and the Colombian case is no exception. These are viewed as a challenge for land-use planning and, often, actions are taken unilaterally to resolve them, ignoring the complexity of the contexts in which they are located.

Although various proposals exist to strengthen participation in the social construction of the habitat, as well as methodologies for community engagement, these processes fail to transcend and achieve a real impact. Furthermore, these proposals do not move beyond this initial stage, nor do they impact the generation of new forms of territorial articulation. The goal is to strengthen and value the socio-cultural resilient capacity, which is manifested in the emerging actions and behaviors of the intervened population.
