Chapter 4. Analysis of informal settlements and participatory institutions
Synopsis
The purpose of this chapter is to conduct an analysis regarding seven human settlements. It also takes into account the assessments of the two interviewed institutions (the Mayor’s Office of Mocoa and the Corporación Opción Legal), whose insights enriched the knowledge of the seven intervened settlements. This is because both the Mayor’s Office of Mocoa and the Corporación Opción Legal established themselves as benchmarks for the development and support of these selected settlements. Consequently, they were invited to exclusive workshops where they addressed the same sets of questions to identify their specific approaches, assessments, and perceptions. These were related to the following inquiries: first, how did they perceive the projection of the intervened human settlements regarding their quality of life and their articulation with the immediate surroundings? Second, how has the social construction of the habitat unfolded in terms of the emergent, the sustainable, and the resilient? Finally, information was gathered regarding future territorial articulation with the immediate context, taking into account emergent manifestations, sustainable actions within the territory, and the resilient capacity of the settlements.
