Chapter 8. The emergence of new complex issues
Synopsis
It was possible to establish the existence of a knowledge gap resulting from a total lack of integration of uncertainty into the territorial articulation processes of informal settlements; this limits both understanding and the actions that produce inventive knowledge regarding the areas of intervention. Furthermore, the emergent values of the study site are overlooked, and the necessary interaction between the subject and the object of study is disregarded, thereby reducing insights related to the self-evaluative processes of the participating subjects. This leads to errors and an incomplete management of knowledge concerning ecocline edges, as deterministic solutions that exclude uncertainty are considered the only form of intervention.
