Synopsis

The definition of what is meant by “Educational Mathematics” can be developed as needs arise during the process of reflecting on educational practice. Initially, mathematics can be interpreted as a communication problem, as Ímaz Jahnke suggests (1987, p. 267).

Author Biography

Carlos Eduardo León Salinas, Universidad La Gran Colombia

Ph.D. candidate in Mathematics Education at the Center for Research in Applied Science and Advanced Technology at the National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico. He holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics Education from the National Pedagogical University, a specialization in Pedagogy and University Teaching from La Gran Colombia University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the National Pedagogical University. 

Professor and researcher affiliated with the Education and Pedagogy research group at La Gran Colombia University, and coordinator of the CIAEM group for the popularization of mathematics in Colombia.
